Resilient AF Training
Personal training that meets you where you’re at, in every way.
Whether you’re a total beginner, getting back into the swing of things, or looking to try something new, I’m here to help! We’ll start where you’re at and build from there to make you stronger, happier, and healthier. Resilient AF offers one-on-one and small group personal training in Portland, Oregon and personalized program design for clients nationwide.
Celebrating Body Realness
At Resilient AF Training, we honor the stretch marks, scars, and cellulite that make us unique. Applaud the pit stains, swamp ass, and under-boob sweat. Recognize that all bodies are built and move differently. I’m committed to creating a fitness space that respects limits, helps you tune in to your body’s safety cues, and lets you move for pleasure, not punishment.
Training with me is always:
- Queer/Trans LGBTQIA+ Affirming
- Body Neutral + Fat Friendly
- Trauma Informed + ED Sensitive (and Always Learning!)
Brenda is professional, caring, and very knowledgeable. I felt comfortable asking her questions and was confident in her coaching techniques. I would highly recommend Coach Brenda to people of all backgrounds and abilities! — Susie P.
About Brenda Taulbee
(She/Her/Hers)
I’m a queer poet, home gardener, and personal trainer based in Portland, Oregon. From the rugby pitch to HIIT workouts and Olympic-style weightlifting, I’ve been in and around fitness spaces for a long time. Through my own experiences, I’ve seen how movement can be used to heal or hurt, depending on your approach and motivations.
I decided to pursue a career as a personal trainer because I was sick of seeing how the fitness industrial complex tears some people down and pushes others out. I believe movement is a human right and the “all or nothing” way exercise gets framed does us all a disservice.
As a NASM-certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor I’m interested in creating space for everyone to train comfortably and safely, designing and coaching exercise programs for all bodies and fitness levels.

Program Design
A workout plan designed to work for YOU.
Program design is perfect if you want to workout on your own, but aren’t sure where to start or how to keep progressing.
My Philosophy:
It’s Your Movement Practice.
If you don’t enjoy it, you’re not going to do it. That’s why I work with my clients to figure out the Why behind their fitness goals. From there, we can work backwards to find forms of exercise that energize and empower instead of leaving you drained. While you might not be stoked for every single set or rep in the moment, I want your overall experience of movement to feel joyful and exciting.
My personal training session with Coach Brenda was fantastic! She catered the workout to my abilities and needs. We focused on strengthening and mobility movements which, as a former athlete, are important to me for my active lifestyle. — SP
